1990s–2010s: Dialogues with the Old Masters
In her final decades, Miller confronted history’s finest painters in a series of monumental portraits. Once again pursuing new facets of extension, she let limbs protrude from an inner frame and eyes bore into the viewer’s. Intermingled with this series were several self-portraits through which she painted herself into the canon of art history. This final era reflects legacy, fear, and accomplishment.
